Cooling System (Most Important in Summer)
⚠️ Heat is the enemy on a summer trip. Long highway runs plus hot ambient temperatures push your cooling system to its limit — exactly when a weak component will fail.
- Check coolant level when the engine is cold — and look for any pink/blue residue that signals a leak.
- Squeeze the radiator hoses: they should be firm but pliable, not rock-hard or mushy.
- Inspect the plastic expansion tank for hairline cracks (a known BMW/Mercedes failure point).
- Confirm the cooling fan kicks in at idle once the engine warms up.
Tires
